#1 Grégory Gaultier bt Arthur Gaskin: 3-0 (11-8, 11-7, 11-6)

Home favorites won their opening tie tonight in Modern Squash, but number 20 seed Ireland certainly put on a great fight and their players played a lot above then their rankings suggest. In the number 3 match, Sean Conroy caused some problems for Lucas Serme during two games, before the Frenchman was able to get the upper hand. Similar story in the following match, where experienced Brian Byrne (33 years old) managed to sneak the second game (12-10) before Marche imposed his pace to the Irishman. The last match was therefore a dead rubber and Grégory Gaultier was in control for his first match in the competition, against Irish number 1 Arthur Gaskin.
